We are happy to let you know that The World Hobbit Project in Finland has got off to a good start. Aino-Kaisa Koistinen started working full-time on the project in the beginning of March and Irma Hirsjärvi and Maria Ruotsalainen joined her in April. Other scholars are also actively participating in the research, but will start working full-time later on.
Also, Aino-Kaisa Koistinen, Maria Ruotsalainen and Tanja Välisalo will be presenting some preliminary results of their joined work on participatory and transmedial user practices in the seminar Fantasies of Contemporary Culture in Cardiff on May 23rd. We even have a whole Hobbit panel with our affiliates Minna Siikilä (doctoral student, University of Jyväskylä) and Martin Barker, the founding father of the Global Hobbit Project (Professor Emeritus, University of Aberystwyth). Very exciting!
Moreover, the project will present further results at Finncon 2016 , where we will be talking about, for instance, questions related to fantasy fandom. Stay tuned for more information!
