Jyrki Korpua (PhD, literary studies) is a university reseacher at the University of Oulu. Korpua defended his doctoral dissertation in the University of Oulu in November, 2015. His doctoral thesis, Constructive Mythopoetics in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Legendarium, is the first doctoral thesis on Tolkien’s literature to be published in a Finnish humanities faculty. Korpua acts as Chair of the Board in The Society for Cultural Studies (Kulttuurintutkimuksen seura ry) and The Finnish Society for Science Fiction and Fantasy Research.
